The Time Shop originated in the early 1960’s on Main Street in a small town called Sayville, located on Long Island, New York. It was a small quaint store owned and run by Bill Taus (pictured left). The local residents soon became aware of how reputable Bill was, providing service not only to their fine jewelry but also their new and antique clocks and watches.
It wasn’t long before Bill realized he needed more space It was then in the early 1970’s that Bill relocated to East Islip. Bill’s customers continued to show their loyalty traveling to the new location for all their repairs. During the following years Bill took on his oldest son Randy, as an apprentice, teaching him the old world trade. As Bill’s clientele grew so did his son’s experience. In the mid 1970’s, two stores were operating side by side of each other. Randy now teaching his brothers, ran the clock repair, while Bill continued with the watch and jewelry repair service. After many years of renting, in October of 1986, Bill had the opportunity to purchase the building next door. After the purchase and total renovation, the two stores merged. With the business running smoothly in the year 2000, Bill retired leaving his two sons Randy and John, to run the business. Both sons are very knowledgeable and have over 35 years of experience working on all types of timepieces, which may be vintage, antique or new.
They also handle all phases of jewelry repair.
